The Conservative Party has a strong presence in the South Gloucestershire area and is represented by three excellent Conservative members in Parliament; Jack Lopresti MP for Filton and Bradley Stoke, Chris Skidmore MP, for Kingswood and Luke Hall MP for Thornbury and Yate.
The Leader of the South Gloucestershire Council is Cllr Toby Savage, Councillor for the Longwell Green Ward. As the Leader of the Council and of the Conservative Group he is proud to lead the team of very hard working Conservative Councillors in such a vibrant area.
South Gloucestershire is part of the historic County of Gloucestershire and about one third of the residents of Gloucestershire live in South Gloucestershire. South Gloucestershire Council is a unitary council, therefore it carries out the functions of both a county council and a district council. Most of South Gloucestershire is also covered by Town and Parish Councils, and many of the councillors on those councils are Conservative.
