A South Gloucestershire Councillor and former Chair of Council, Councillor Franklin Owusu-Antwi has been recognised in the Honours List 2026 with the award of Most Excellent Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for outstanding services to local government.
The honour acknowledges years of dedicated public service, leadership, and commitment to strengthening communities across South Gloucestershire. Throughout his time in office, Councillor Franklin has championed partnership working, supported voluntary and community sector organisations, and worked to ensure that residents’ voices are heard in local decision‑making.
Speaking about the award, Councillor Franklin said:
“I am deeply honoured to receive this MBE. Serving the people of South Gloucestershire has been one of the greatest privileges of my life. This recognition reflects the collective effort of councillors, council officers, volunteers, and community partners who work tirelessly to support our residents and strengthen civic life. I am grateful to everyone who has walked alongside me in this work.”
