A South Glos councillor has cut the ribbon on a swanky new pump track in Wickwar.
Cllr Becky Romaine. who represents the Wickwar area for the Conservatives on South Gloucestershire Council, helped to secure funding for the new bike track and last month officially opened it to the community.
The track is located on Wickwar Playing Fields and is likely to be well-used by the local bike riding community.
Becky said: “I’m absolutely thrilled to have helped to get this fancy new pump track built in Wickwar. It’s a brilliant addition to the community and a fantastic opportunity for local people to keep active and show off their BMX skills.
“On the King George Playing fields, you now have a pavilion that volunteers run for refreshments and cakes on a weekend, a football pitch with new changing rooms and toilets, a park and now a pump track.
“I would like to thank everybody on Wickwar Parish Council for making this happen.”
Asked if she’ll be heading out on two wheels and giving the pump track a go,
Becky said: “I’m delighted to have secured the funding for the track, but I’ll leave the wheelies to others.”
