After years of pressure, spades are in the ground on Four Acre Road – bringing long-awaited action to improve safety for families in Bromley Heath.
Following sustained campaigning by local Conservative councillors Liz Brennan and Ben Burton, work has now started on a new zebra crossing on Four Acre Road, just south of the Quakers Road junction.
The crossing will make a real difference for families travelling daily to Bromley Heath Infant School, Junior School, Preschool and Day Nursery, where crossing the busy road has long been a serious concern.
While progress on Four Acre Road is welcome, Cllr Brennan says "more must be done to keep children safe on the school run".
Serious concerns have now been raised about dangerous parking, faded markings and poor visibility outside Christ Church C of E VC Infant School, particularly on Christchurch Avenue, Christchurch Lane and Church View. Parents warn that young children are being put at risk during drop-off and pick-up times, with cars parked too close to junctions and little clear guidance for drivers.
